The 5th Aesculapius' Challenge was held last November 20, 2003. Reigning champion College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) sent three teams. Also from the same university, the College of Pharmacy sent two teams. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) sent two teams, Dela Salle University (DLSU) likewise sent two teams, and completing the roster was one team from the College of Physical Therapy of UERM.

Opening remarks were given by our brod Paul Sunga from the Department of Surgery - section of Urology. Our newest brod Joemal Malali acted as quizmaster, with fine judging done by our newest physicians Toby Diaz, Sam Tan, and Bernie Bernardo. The Easy Round showed UST College of Pharmacy raring to make a comeback, with UST Pharma Team 2 getting 12 out of 15 answers correct to grab an early lead. UST Pharma Team 1 also fared well, capturing third spot in this category with 55 points. The teams from Dela Salle University, last seen during the first Aesculapius' Challenge, made their presence felt by also capturing 2nd and 4th spot in this round.  Reigning champions UST CRS teams were not far behind as they came in 5th, 6th and 7th place.

During the difficult round, UST Pharma 2 continued to shine as they continued to maintain the lead with a total combined score of 120 points. UST Pharma 1 maintained third place with a score of 85 points, while the DLSU teams still managed to keep no.2 and no.4 spots with 90 and 75 points, respectively. In an upset of sorts, UERM PT came from behind, capturing the 2nd highest score in this round, and with a total combined score of 70 points managed to displace perennial finalist UST CRS from the top five spots to make it to the final round.

The final round proved equally exciting as the "right minus wrong" format made teams hesitate in answering questions, with crucial errors making an impact on the final outcome. After an emotion-filled round, the UST College of Pharmacy regained its crown with its second team capturing the top spot  with 25 points. DLSU team 2 and UERM PT both finished with identical 15 points, but after a sudden death question, UERM PT grabbed second place, and DLSU team 2 finished in third place. DLSU team 1 and UST Pharma team 1 both came in 4th with 5 points.
